What Does Joshua 8:3 Mean?
Joshua responds immediately. The man who was face-down in grief at the end of chapter 7 now "arose" to act on God's renewed promise. He picks his finest soldiers and moves them into position by night, when their march toward the city would be hidden.
Faith and diligence belong together. Joshua trusts the promise of verse 1, yet he still chooses, plans, and labors through the night. Believing that God has already given the victory did not make Joshua passive; it freed him to work with confidence.
