What Does Judges 13:3 Mean?
The angel of the Lord comes directly to the woman -- not to her husband, not to a priest, but to her. He names her condition honestly, 'thou art barren,' and then speaks the promise that overturns it: 'thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.' The same God who sees her emptiness speaks her future.
That the announcement comes to a forgotten woman in an oppressed land says much about how God works. He notices those whom the world overlooks and brings His promises to the humble.
