1 Corinthians 13 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

1 Corinthians is a letter Paul wrote to God's family. This chapter is one of the most famous in the whole Bible.

It tells us the most important thing of all — bigger than being smart, bigger than being strong. It is love.

Today's Story

Paul wanted God's family to know a big secret. You can do all kinds of amazing things. You can say wonderful words. You can be very smart. You can even give away everything you own.

But Paul said something surprising. If you do all those things without love, they do not really count. Without love, he said, “I am nothing.” Love is the most important thing of all.

Then Paul told us what love looks like. He said, “Love is patient. Love is kind.” Love does not brag. Love is not rude. Love does not get angry easily. Love is not jealous when someone else gets a turn. Love is happy when good things are true.

Love keeps going. It does not give up. Paul said one day lots of things will end, but three things last forever — trusting God, hoping in God, and love. And the greatest one of all is love.

That is how God loves you. And that is how He helps you love everyone around you.

Talk About It

  1. When was a time today that someone was kind to you? How did it feel?
  2. Paul said love is patient. What is something that is hard to wait for? How can love help you wait?
  3. Of all the things love does — being kind, not bragging, not staying angry — which one do you want to try this week?
