Paul keeps writing to help his church family take good care of each other. Today he reminds them that what we do matters to the whole family.
Today's Story
Paul loved his church family very much. He wanted them to be a safe, happy place where everyone was treated well.
But Paul heard that someone in the family was making bad choices and was not sorry at all. Even worse, no one else seemed to care! Paul was sad about that.
So Paul taught them something important. “What one person does can hurt the whole family,” he said. He used a picture they would understand. “Just a tiny bit of yeast,” Paul said, “works its way through a whole big batch of dough.” A little thing can spread to everyone.
Paul wanted them to help each other choose good, not just look away when someone was hurting the family.
But Paul was not being mean. He still loved that person and wanted them to come back and be sorry and be okay. In God's family, we care enough to help each other do what is right — and we always leave the door open with love.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- When someone in your family is having a hard day, how does it change the way everyone feels?
- Paul said a little bit of yeast spreads through the whole dough. How could one kind choice spread good feelings to your whole family?
- If a friend was about to do something that would hurt them, what is a loving way you could help?
