1 Kings 10 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

A queen from far, far away hears about Solomon's wisdom and just has to see it for herself. What she finds takes her breath away.

Today's Story

Word about Solomon's wisdom spread all over the world. In a faraway land, the Queen of Sheba heard the stories and thought, “Can any king really be that wise? I have to find out for myself.”

So she packed up a huge parade of camels loaded with spices, gold, and jewels, and made the long journey to visit Solomon.

When she arrived, she asked Solomon all the hardest questions she could think of - every riddle, every puzzle. And Solomon answered every single one. Nothing was too hard for him.

The queen looked around at his wisdom, his beautiful palace, and the temple of God - and she could hardly breathe. “It's all true!” she said. “The stories didn't even tell the half of it!”

And then she said the most important thing of all. She didn't just praise Solomon. She praised God: “Praise be to the LORD your God, who was so pleased with you that He made you king.” She saw Solomon's wisdom and looked right past it to the God who gave it.

Talk About It

  1. The queen traveled a very long way to see something amazing. What is something so wonderful you'd travel far to see it?
  2. When she saw Solomon's wisdom, she praised God for it. When you see something amazing, how can you thank God?
  3. The stories “didn't tell the half of it.” What is something about God that is even better than you can describe?
