1 Thessalonians is a letter. A man named Paul wrote it to a group of new friends who loved Jesus, to cheer them on.
Today's Story
Paul had some friends who lived far away in a city called Thessalonica. He could not visit them right then, so he did the next best thing. He wrote them a letter.
And the very first thing Paul wrote was a big thank-you to God for them. “We always thank God for all of you,” he said. “We remember you when we pray.”
Why was Paul so happy? Because these friends really loved God. They were kind. They worked hard at loving people. And even when things got hard, they kept on trusting Jesus.
Here is the best part. Their love for God did not stay hidden inside them. Other people could SEE it! Paul said the news about them had spread “everywhere.” People in faraway towns were saying, “Did you hear about those friends who turned to the true and living God?”
When you love God, it shows. It shines out, like a light in a window. And it makes other people want to know God too.

Talk About It
- Who is someone you are thankful for today? What is one thing you love about them?
- Paul could not visit his friends, so he wrote them a letter. Who is someone far away you could send a happy note to?
- When you love God, how could other people tell? What might they see you do?
