Solomon is ready to build a temple — a beautiful house where God's people can worship. But a job this big needs lots of helpers!
Today's Story
King Solomon had a big plan. He was going to build a temple — a beautiful house where people could come and worship God.
Solomon knew this had to be the most wonderful building of all. “Our God is greater than every other god,” he said. “The whole sky cannot hold Him! So the house I build for Him must be great and special.”
A job this big needed a lot of helpers. Solomon counted thousands of strong workers to carry stones and cut wood up in the hills.
Then Solomon sent a letter to his friend King Hiram, who lived by the sea. “Please send me your tall cedar trees,” he wrote, “and send me your best builder — someone who knows how to work with gold and silver and beautiful cloth.”
King Hiram was happy to help. “Because the LORD loves His people, He made you their king,” Hiram wrote back. He sent the cedar logs floating down the sea, and he sent a master craftsman too.
Everyone worked together to give God their very best.

Talk About It
- When have you helped build or make something with other people? What was your job?
- Solomon wanted the temple to be the best it could be, because God is so great. What is something you could do your very best at, to honor God?
- Lots of different people helped — stone carriers, wood cutters, the builder, even a faraway king. Why is it good that everybody had a part?
