The building begins! Watch the temple rise — shining with gold and more beautiful than anything the people had ever seen.
Today's Story
At last the great day came. On a hill in Jerusalem, the workers began to build the temple for God.
It was going to be amazing. Solomon had the walls covered with shining gold — so much gold that the whole inside glowed! He decorated it with carvings of palm trees and flowers and pretty chains. Even the nails were made of gold.
The most special room of all was called the Most Holy Place. Inside it, Solomon placed two huge golden angels called cherubim. Their wings were so wide they stretched all the way across the room and touched in the middle, like a roof of wings.
In front of that room hung a beautiful curtain, woven in blue and purple and red, with angels stitched right into the cloth.
Out front stood two tall pillars, strong and grand, guarding the doorway.
Everything was made as beautiful as it could possibly be. Because this was God's house — and the people loved God with all their hearts.
