The temple walls are up. Now Solomon fills it with amazing things made of bronze and gold — even a giant bowl of water as big as a pond!
Today's Story
The temple was nearly finished. Now it was time to fill it with everything the people would need to worship God. Solomon had a master craftsman make it all.
First they made a great bronze altar, where gifts would be given to God.
Then they made something incredible: a giant round bowl of water, so big it was called the Sea! It sat on the backs of twelve bronze oxen — three looking north, three south, three east, and three west. The priests would wash there to be clean before serving God.
They made ten golden lampstands to fill the temple with warm light, and ten tables, and bowls and shovels and sprinkling cups — all shining and beautiful.
There was so much gold! Lamps of gold, cups of gold, even the doors were covered in gold.
Every single thing had its place, and every single thing was made with care. The house of God was ready.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- What is a small job you help with at home — like setting the table or putting toys away? How can you do it with care?
- The workers made even the cups and bowls beautiful. Why do you think the little things mattered so much to them?
- The priests washed in the big water Sea to be clean before serving God. Why do you think getting ready is important?
