A huge army is coming, and King Jehoshaphat is scared. But watch what happens when the people pray and sing instead of panic.
Today's Story
One day, a messenger ran to King Jehoshaphat with scary news: a giant army was marching toward Judah. Three whole kingdoms were coming to fight, all at once!
Jehoshaphat was afraid. But he knew exactly what to do. He didn't grab a sword first. He prayed first. He called all the people together — moms, dads, little kids, babies — and they stood before God.
Jehoshaphat prayed out loud: “God, this army is too big for us. We don't know what to do. But our eyes are on You.”
Then God's answer came: “Don't be afraid. Don't give up. This battle is not yours — it is Mine. Go out tomorrow, and watch what I will do for you.”
So the next morning they marched out to meet the giant army. And guess who went in front? Not the soldiers. The singers did! They sang, “Give thanks to the Lord. His love lasts forever!”
And the very moment they began to sing and praise, God went to work. The enemy armies got all mixed up and could not win. When God's people came over the hill, the danger was already gone. God had done it all!
They went home singing, with music playing, so happy and so thankful. God had kept His promise.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is something that feels scary or too big for you right now?
- Jehoshaphat prayed first, before anything else. Why is praying a good first thing to do when we are afraid?
- The people sang to God even before they could see how it would turn out. Can we still thank God before we know what will happen?
