2 Chronicles 19 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

King Jehoshaphat comes home safe, and then he does something very wise to help everyone be treated fairly.

Today's Story

King Jehoshaphat made it home safe and sound. A man who spoke for God met him and said, “You shouldn't have helped that wicked king. But there is good in your heart, because you want to follow God.”

Jehoshaphat listened, and he wanted to do better. So he traveled all through the land and helped the people turn back to God.

Then he had a wise idea. When people argue, somebody fair has to help decide what is right. So Jehoshaphat picked good judges and placed them in every city.

He gave them important words: “Be careful how you judge. You are not just deciding for people — you are deciding for God. Be fair. Do not pick favorites. Do not let anyone pay you to be unfair.”

“Be brave and do what is right,” he told them, “and God will be with the ones who are good.”

The land had helpers everywhere who tried hard to be fair, because they wanted to please God most of all.
