2 Chronicles 26 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

King Uzziah did so well that everyone knew his name — but then something inside his heart started to grow that should not have.

Today's Story

Uzziah became king when he was only sixteen — younger than a babysitter! He looked for God and wanted to please Him. The Bible says, “As long as he obeyed the LORD, God gave him success.”

And success came! Uzziah built strong towers and dug wells. He had a mighty army and clever machines to guard the city walls. His name became famous, far and wide. God had helped him become very strong.

But here is the sad part. When Uzziah grew strong, his heart grew proud. He forgot it was God who helped him. He marched into God's holy temple to do a special job that God had only given to the priests. The priests begged him, “Stop! This is not your job.” But Uzziah would not listen.

Because of his proud heart, Uzziah got very sick, and he stayed sick the rest of his life. How much better if he had stayed humble and thankful, remembering that everything good came from God.
