After a big celebration, good King Hezekiah helps everyone love God again — and the people give so much it piles up in heaps!
Today's Story
King Hezekiah loved God with his whole heart. After a big, happy celebration, the people felt so full of joy that they went out and cleared away every fake god they could find. They wanted only the real God now.
Then Hezekiah said, “Let's take good care of God's house, and the men who help there too.” So he asked the people to bring gifts — food and grain and good things to share.
And oh, did they bring them! Families carried in the very first and best of everything they grew. The piles grew taller and taller. One heap, then another, then another — all in a row.
When Hezekiah saw the heaps, he was amazed. “Where did all this come from?” The helpers smiled and said, “The people kept bringing more and more. God has blessed us, so we have plenty left over!”
There was more than enough for everyone. Hezekiah made safe rooms to keep it all, so nobody who served God would ever go hungry. He did what was good and right and true, with all his heart — and everything he did went well.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is something of yours that you could share with someone today?
- The people gave their very best to God, not their leftovers. Why do you think they wanted to give their best?
- How does it feel inside when you give something away to make someone else happy?
