2 Corinthians is a letter Paul wrote to help God's family love God and love each other.
Here Paul tells us the happy way to give.
Today's Story
Paul wanted to teach the people one more thing about giving. He told them a little picture about a farmer.
When a farmer plants only a few seeds, he gets only a little food. But when he plants lots of seeds, he gets a big, happy harvest! Giving is like that, Paul said. When we share with love, good things grow.
Then Paul said the most important part: “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give. God loves a cheerful giver.”
That word cheerful means glad and smiling. God does not want us to give while feeling grumpy or grouchy. He loves it when we give because we want to, with a happy heart.
And here is the best news: God always has plenty. When we give, He fills us right back up, so we never run out of love to share. So we can give with a big smile, knowing God takes care of us.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- When was a time you shared something and it made you feel happy?
- Paul said God loves a cheerful giver. What is the difference between giving with a smile and giving with a grump?
- God always fills us back up when we give. How does that help you not be afraid to share?
