In this part of the Bible, kings come and go very fast. But while people kept changing, God stayed exactly the same.
Today's Story
This part of the Bible reads almost like a list. One king ruled for a while. Then a new king. Then another. And another! In the land of Israel, the kings changed again and again and again.
And here is the sad part: most of these kings forgot all about God. They did not love Him or follow His ways. They were too busy reaching for power for themselves.
Down in Judah there was a king named Azariah. He did what was right for a long, long time - many, many years. But even the good kings grew old, and one by one their time came to an end.
Can you imagine? So many kings, coming and going like leaves blowing past a window. People change. Kings change. Even the strongest ones do not last forever.
But all through this busy, changing time, one thing stayed perfectly steady: God. He never changed. He never forgot His people, even when they forgot Him. He was the same yesterday, the same today, and the same forever.
Kings come and go - but God stays the same, and we can always count on Him.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- What are some things in your life that change - like the weather, or how tall you are getting?
- So many kings forgot God. What are some little ways we can help ourselves remember Him every day?
- God never changes and never forgets us. Why is that good news when so many other things keep changing?
