After a string of kings who forgot God, along comes Hezekiah - a king who trusted the LORD more than anyone. Let's meet him.
Today's Story
Hezekiah became king, and right away he did something brave: he cleaned house. All the pretend gods made of wood and stone, all the idols people had been bowing to - Hezekiah broke them up and threw them out. He wanted his people to love and follow the one true God again.
The Bible says something wonderful about Hezekiah. It says he trusted the LORD, the God of Israel. There was no king like him, before or after - nobody held on to God the way Hezekiah did. He stuck close to God and did what God said.
But trusting God didn't mean Hezekiah had no troubles. A huge and powerful army marched up to his cities. Their leader stood outside the walls and shouted big, boastful words, trying to scare everyone. “Don't listen to Hezekiah!” he yelled. “Your God can't save you!”
That was a frightening day. The people up on the wall stayed quiet and didn't shout back. They waited. Because their king Hezekiah trusted God - and the God he trusted was bigger than any army outside the gate.

Talk About It
- When something feels scary - like a big test or the dark - what helps you feel brave? How could trusting God help?
- Hezekiah cleared out everything that pulled people away from God. What are some things that can pull our hearts away from God today?
- The enemy shouted, “Your God can't save you!” Why was that not true? What do you know about how big and strong God is?
