2 Peter 2 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

2 Peter is a letter Peter wrote to help God's family love God and love each other.

In this part, Peter warns his friends to be careful about who they listen to.

Today's Story

Peter loves his church family very much. So he writes them a warning, the way a good shepherd watches out for his sheep.

“Be careful,” Peter says. “Some people will try to teach you things that are not true. They sound friendly. They make wrong things look fun. But deep down, they are leading you away from God.”

It is a little like someone who points you down the wrong path and says, “This way! This way!” — but that path does not go home.

How can you tell the difference? Peter says to remember Jesus. A good voice points you toward Jesus and toward being kind and true. A tricky voice points you away from Him.

Then Peter reminds them of good news: God knows how to take care of His people. He has always rescued those who love Him, all through the years. He will keep His family safe.

So we do not have to be scared. We just stay close to Jesus and listen to the voices that lead us to Him.
