A whole town is about to be in big trouble — until one clever, brave woman speaks up and changes everything.
Today's Story
A troublemaker named Sheba had stirred up a fuss against King David, and then he ran and hid inside a town called Abel. David's army marched up and surrounded the whole town, getting ready to break down its walls.
Everyone inside was frightened. It looked like the whole town might be destroyed because of one troublemaker hiding there.
But the town had a secret strength: a wise woman. She climbed up onto the wall and called out, “Listen! Listen! Let me talk to your commander!”
When the commander came close, she spoke calmly and cleverly. “Our town is a peaceful, faithful place. Why would you want to destroy all of us? Let's find a better way.”
And the commander listened! Together they found a way to end the trouble without harming the town. The army packed up and went home, and everyone in Abel was safe.
One wise woman, with calm and clever words, had saved a whole city.
