David throws the happiest parade you can imagine — all to welcome God's special golden chest into the city.
Today's Story
There was a special golden chest called the ark. It was the sign that God was with His people, and it was the most precious thing in all the land.
David wanted to bring the ark home to Jerusalem — and he wanted to do it carefully, the right way that honored God. So a great big crowd set out, carrying the ark gently, just as God had shown them.
And oh, what a party it was! There were trumpets and horns. There were harps and tambourines. There was singing and shouting for joy. The whole city came out to celebrate.
And David? The king himself? He danced. The Bible says David danced in front of the LORD with all his might. He leaped and twirled and praised God with his whole body, not caring one bit how silly he might look. He was just so happy that God was near.
David wasn't too cool or too shy to worship. He gave God his very best, loudest, most joyful celebration.
