The day David has waited his whole life for has finally come. And the Bible tells us the secret to why he did so well.
Today's Story
At last, all the people of Israel came together to David. “You are the one,” they said. “You should be our king.” And so David became king over the whole land. The shepherd boy who once fought a giant was now the king of everyone.
David needed a city to be his home base. He set his eyes on a strong, walled city called Jerusalem. People said it could never be captured — but with God's help, David captured it anyway. From that day on, Jerusalem was the king's special city.
When enemies came to attack, David didn't just rush in. First he asked God, “Should I go?” And God answered and gave David the victory.
Here is the secret the Bible tells us: David became more and more powerful, because the LORD God who rules over all was with him. It wasn't David's strength that made him great. It was God being with him, every step of the way.
