2 Timothy 4 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

This is the very last part of the very last letter Paul ever wrote, to help God's family keep loving God all the way to the end.

Paul knew his life on earth was almost over. So he gave Timothy his bravest, most loving goodbye.

Today's Story

Paul was getting old, and he was still in prison. He knew he would soon go home to be with Jesus. So he wrote Timothy his last words.

“Keep telling people about Jesus,” Paul said. “Tell them the good news when it is easy and when it is hard. Be patient and kind, and never give up.”

Then Paul looked back on his whole life, and he smiled. “I have fought the good fight,” he wrote. “I have finished the race. I have kept on loving God all the way to the end.”

It was like Paul had run a long, long race — and now he could see the finish line! He knew God had a wonderful prize waiting for him, like a shiny crown.

Paul had faced some very hard and scary days. But he said, “The Lord stood right beside me and gave me strength. God always takes care of me.”

Paul missed his friend. “Please come and see me soon, Timothy,” he wrote. Then he ended with love: “May God's grace be with you.”
