Acts 13 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

The church sends two of their best friends on an exciting adventure to share Jesus with faraway places.

Today's Story

The church at Antioch was worshiping and praying together when the Holy Spirit spoke: “Set apart Barnabas and Paul for a special job I have for them.” So the church prayed for them, placed their hands on them to bless them, and sent them off on a big adventure — to travel to faraway places and tell people about Jesus! This was the very first missionary journey.

Paul and Barnabas sailed across the sea and traveled from town to town. Everywhere they went, they shared the good news: “Jesus came, He loves you, He rose again, and through Him you can be forgiven and have new life!”

Some people were overjoyed to hear it and believed. Others didn't like the message. But Paul and Barnabas kept going, being a light wherever they went. They remembered that God had said, “I have made you a light for the nations, to bring my rescue to the ends of the earth.”

God still sends people today — missionaries — to share His love in faraway places. And we can be a light right where we are!
