In the city of Athens, Paul finds a way to tell people about the God they didn't even know.
Today's Story
Paul came to Athens, a city full of statues and idols — pretend gods made of stone and gold. The people worshiped many false gods. Paul even found an altar with a sign: “TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.” They worshiped a god they didn't even know!
So Paul stood up and said kindly, “I can tell you about the God you don't know! He is the one true God who made the whole world and everything in it. He doesn't live in statues or temples made by human hands. He gives life and breath to everyone.”
Then Paul said something beautiful: “This God is not far away. He is close to each one of us! In Him we live and move and exist.” The God who made the stars and the seas wants to be known and loved by you!
Some people laughed, but others wanted to hear more, and some believed. Paul showed them that the true God isn't a far-off statue — He's the living God who made us and is near to each one of us.
A Big Word

Talk About It
- The people worshiped statues, but Paul told them about the living God. What's the difference between a pretend god and the real God?
- Paul said God is “not far from any of us.” How does it feel to know the God who made everything is near to you?
- God made the whole world, yet He wants to know YOU. Why is that amazing?
