For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up
In this chapter God says the same sad little line over and over: “Yet you have not returned to me.” It shows us how patiently God keeps reaching out, hoping we will turn back.
Today's Story
Amos shared a part of God's message that sounded a little sad. It was like a parent whose child keeps wandering off — and the parent keeps calling them back home.
God reminded His people of all the times He had tried to get their attention. There had been hard seasons. There had been times things did not grow. Each time, God was hoping they would stop, remember Him, and come close again.
And after each one, God said the same gentle, sad words: “Yet you have not returned to me.”
He was not angry like someone who wanted to be mean. He was sad like someone who missed them. He kept the door open. He kept calling.
Then God said something special: “Get ready to meet your God.”
That was not a scary thing. It was an invitation — like a mom or dad saying, “Come on, I am right here, come back to me.” The God who made the mountains and the wind and the morning was reaching out his arms, hoping His people would simply turn around and come home.
A Big Word

Talk About It
- Have you ever wandered too far from your grown-up at a store or a park? How did it feel when you found each other again?
- God kept gently saying, “Come back to me.” What do you think it means to come close to God?
- God was sad because He missed His people — not because He was being mean. How does it feel to know God misses you when you drift away?
