Ecclesiastes is a book by a very wise man called the Teacher. He spent his whole life asking one big question: what makes life truly matter?
Today's Story
The Teacher had been thinking very hard. He had looked at all of life — the happy parts and the sad parts — and he had been a little worried. Some days felt heavy. Some things didn't make sense.
But then he stopped, and he noticed something. The bread he ate was good. The cup he drank from was sweet. The clothes he wore were clean and fresh. His friends made him laugh. And he realized — all of these are gifts. Every single one came from God.
So the Teacher said something kind and wise. He said, “Go ahead. Eat your food and be glad. Enjoy a cold drink on a hot day. Be thankful for the people you love. And whatever good work you find to do — do it with all your heart!”
Life is a gift, the Teacher learned. And the best way to live it is to thank God for today, and to do today well.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- The Teacher learned to notice the good gifts all around him. What is one good gift you got today — even a small one?
- He said to do your work “with all your heart.” What is a job you can do today, and how could you do it your very best?
- Why do you think it makes God happy when we enjoy the good things He gives us and say thank You?
