Paul keeps writing his letter to God's family. In this part, he tells them the happiest secret of all: God's love is a gift.
Today's Story
Have you ever been given a present — not because it was your birthday, not because you were good, but just because someone loves you? You did not pay for it. You did not earn it. It was a gift.
Paul says that is exactly how God saved us.
He says we were once far away from God, kind of like being lost in the dark and not knowing the way home. We could never find our own way back. We could never be good enough on our own.
But God is rich in love. So He came and got us! He took us by the hand and brought us close to Himself, all because of His kindness.
Paul writes it in a sentence God's family has remembered ever since: “God's grace has saved you. You can't save yourselves. It is God's gift.”
That means you do not have to be good enough first. You do not have to earn it with stickers or stars. You just say thank You and take the gift.
And now God's family is all put together — people who used to be strangers, now brothers and sisters, built together into one big house where God lives.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is the best gift someone has ever given you? Did you have to earn it?
- God's love is a gift, not a prize you win. Why do you think that is good news?
- If you cannot earn God's gift, what is the one thing you can do? (Hint: say thank you and take it!)
