Paul is still writing his letter to God's family. Right in the middle of it, he stops and prays a big prayer for them — and for us.
Today's Story
Paul has a secret he is so excited to share. For a long, long time people wondered: who gets to be in God's family? And now everyone knows the answer — everyone is invited! Every kind of person, from every place, can come close to God.
Paul loves this so much that he gets down on his knees to pray. And listen to what he prays for God's family:
He prays that they would be strong on the inside, deep in their hearts. He prays that Jesus would feel right at home inside them. And then he prays the biggest prayer of all.
He asks God to help them understand “how wide and long and high and deep” God's love really is.
Think of the widest thing you know. The ocean? The sky? God's love is wider. Think of the tallest thing. A mountain? The stars? God's love is higher. You could run and run and run and never reach the edge of how much God loves you, because it has no edge.
Paul finishes by saying God can do way, way more than we could ever ask or even imagine. So we say, “Yes, God! Amen!”
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is the biggest thing you have ever seen with your own eyes? God's love is even bigger than that. What does that make you feel?
- Paul prayed for his friends instead of just saying hi. Who is someone you could pray a big prayer for today?
- If God can do more than we can even imagine, what is something big you would like to ask Him for?
