Esther 5 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Queen Esther does the bravest thing of her life — and God gives her favor.

Today's Story

Esther had decided to go see the king to beg him to save her people. But there was a scary rule: no one could come to the king without being invited — not even the queen! If the king didn't welcome them, they could be in big trouble. But Esther bravely said, “I have to try.” She and all the Jewish people prayed and went without food for three days, asking God for help.

On the third day, Esther put on her royal robes and walked into the king's throne room, her heart pounding. Would the king welcome her?

The moment the king saw Esther, his face softened. He held out his golden scepter to her — the sign that she was welcome and safe! God had given Esther favor. The king said, “What is it, Queen Esther? I'll give you anything, even up to half my kingdom!”

Esther was wise. She didn't blurt everything out. Instead, she invited the king (and Haman) to a special dinner, and then another one, waiting for just the right moment. God was giving her courage and wisdom, step by step.
