Pharaoh has said no nine times. God gives one last warning — and promises that this time, His people really will go free.
Today's Story
Nine times now, God had said, “Let My people go.” Nine times, Pharaoh had said no. God had been so patient — giving Pharaoh chance after chance after chance.
Now God told Moses, “There is one more thing. After this, Pharaoh will not just let you go — he will beg you to go.”
It would be the saddest night Egypt had ever known. A great sorrow was coming to every house that had said no to God. It was the kind of sad that finally breaks a stubborn heart.
But God made a promise to His own people: not one of them would be harmed. God knew exactly who was His. He would keep them safe and carry them out of Egypt at last.
Moses walked out of the palace. The long wait was almost over. After four hundred years, freedom was just one night away.
A Big Word

Talk About It
- God gave Pharaoh nine whole chances before this last warning. Why do you think God is so patient with people — even with you and me?
- God knew exactly which people were His, and He kept them safe. How does it feel to know God knows you and watches over you?
- God's people had waited four hundred years for freedom. What's something you've had to wait a long time for?
