Exodus 23 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

God's good rules finish with three beautiful ideas: be truthful, rest and share, and trust God to lead the way.

Today's Story

God gave His people a few more important rules to live by.

First: tell the truth and be fair, even if everyone around you is doing wrong. “Don't follow the crowd into doing wrong,” God said. “Don't twist the truth.” Be brave enough to be honest.

Second: rest. God said to work six days, then rest on the seventh — and even to let the fields rest, and let people in need gather food from them. God's rest is a gift, and it's meant to be shared.

And third, a wonderful promise: “I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared.” God wasn't just giving rules — He was promising to lead His people every step, all the way home.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. God said don't follow the crowd into doing wrong. When is it hard to do the right thing if everyone else is doing wrong?
  2. God told His people to rest and to share. Why do you think rest is a gift from God? How does your family like to rest?
  3. God promised to send an angel to guide and guard His people. How does it feel to know God leads us and protects us?
