God's people make a big promise to follow Him — and then Moses climbs up into the cloud on the mountain to be with God.
Today's Story
Moses told the people all of God's words and rules. And the people answered together, with one voice: “Everything the Lord has said, we will do!” They were promising to follow God.
To seal the promise, Moses built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and the people worshiped. They agreed again: “We will obey.” It was a special, serious moment — God and His people, joined together by a promise.
Then God called Moses to come up the mountain. Moses climbed, and a thick cloud — the glory of God — covered the top. To the people watching below, the mountaintop looked like it was on fire.
Moses stepped right into the cloud, into God's presence, and stayed there forty days and forty nights. He was about to receive something wonderful from God for the people.

Talk About It
- The people promised, “We will do everything the Lord said.” What's a promise you could make to God?
- Moses went right into the cloud to be with God for forty days. Would you be brave enough to step into God's cloud? What do you think it was like in there?
- The people watched from below while Moses met with God. How can WE get close to God today?
