Exodus 35 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

It's time to build God's tent — and the people give so generously and joyfully that it's beautiful to watch.

Today's Story

Moses gathered all the people and told them it was time to build God's tent. “Everyone whose heart is willing,” he said, “bring an offering to the Lord — gold, silver, cloth, wood, jewels, whatever you have. And all who are skilled, come and help make it.”

And oh, how the people gave! They came with willing, joyful hearts — not because they had to, but because they wanted to. They brought their gold jewelry, their beautiful cloth, their precious things. The ones who were good at spinning made yarn; the skilled workers got ready to build. Everyone had something to give.

It was a beautiful thing to see: a whole community giving cheerfully, each person bringing what they could, all to make a home for God.

God doesn't want gifts given grumpily, or just because we have to. He loves a glad and willing heart that gives because it wants to.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. The people gave gladly, because they wanted to. What's the difference between giving because you HAVE to and giving because you WANT to?
  2. Everyone brought something different — gold, cloth, skill. What could YOU bring or give to God and to others?
  3. They gave joyfully to build God's house. How can we give and help with happy hearts?
