Exodus 36 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

The building of God's tent begins — and the people give SO much that something wonderful happens: they have to be told to stop!

Today's Story

The skilled workers, led by Bezalel, got to work building God's tent, using everything the people had brought.

And the people kept giving! Every morning they brought more gold, more cloth, more treasures — more than the workers could even use.

Finally the workers came to Moses and said something you don't hear very often: “Moses — the people are bringing too much! We already have more than enough to do all the work!”

So Moses sent word all through the camp: “Stop! Don't bring anything more. We have plenty!” The people actually had to be held back from giving!

Can you imagine? A whole community so eager and generous that they had to be told to STOP giving. That's the kind of joyful, open-handed heart that delights God.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. The people gave so much they had to be told to stop! Have you ever seen someone be super generous? How did it feel?
  2. What would it look like for YOUR family to give “more than enough” to help someone?
  3. The people gave with joy, not grumbling. How can we make giving and sharing fun instead of hard?
