Ezekiel 22 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Ezekiel was a man God used to share His messages. In this one, God is sad about how a whole city has been treating each other — and He goes looking for one person to help.

Today's Story

God gave Ezekiel a hard message about the city of Jerusalem.

God had watched the city for a long time. And He was sad. The people there were not being kind. The strong ones were pushing around the weak ones. People were telling lies. The grown-ups were not taking care of the children who had no mom or dad. They had forgotten God, and they had forgotten how to be good to each other.

God said it was like silver that had turned to junk — once shiny and good, now needing to be melted down and cleaned up.

But here is the part that shows God's heart. God said, “I looked for someone. Someone to build up the wall. Someone to stand in the gap and pray for this city, so I would not have to let it fall apart.”

A “gap” is a hole in a wall — a broken-down spot. God was looking for one brave person to stand right in that broken spot and say, “Wait. Let me help. Let me pray. Let me make this right.”

God was not looking for an army. He was looking for one. Even one person who would stand up and care can change everything.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. Have you ever seen a kid being left out or treated unfairly? What did you do, or what could you do next time?
  2. God said He was looking for just one person to help. Why do you think one person who cares can make such a big difference?
  3. Whom could you stand up for or pray for this week — someone who needs a friend?
