Ezekiel was one of God's messengers. God gave him a special job — to be a lookout for the whole city.
Today's Story
Long ago, a city kept a guard up high on the wall. We call him a watchman. His job was simple. He watched the road. If he saw trouble coming, he blew a loud trumpet so everyone could get safe in time.
God said to Ezekiel, “I am making you the watchman for my people. When I give you a message, you tell them. Don't stay quiet. Blow the trumpet.”
The people had been making bad choices and forgetting God. God could see they were heading the wrong way, like walking toward a cliff in the dark. So He sent Ezekiel to call out, “Turn around! Come back this way!”
And here is the most wonderful part. God said, “I am not happy when people walk away from me. I don't want anyone to be lost. I want them to turn around and live. Why would you keep going the wrong way? Come home to me!”
God wasn't shouting because He was mean. He was calling because He loved them, and He didn't want to lose a single one.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- When have you been warned about something — like “watch out, that's hot!” or “look both ways”? How did the warning keep you safe?
- God sent a warning because He loves His people, not because He was mean. How does it feel to know God's warnings come from love?
- God said He's glad when someone turns around and comes back. Is there something you need to turn around from today?
