Ezekiel 34 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

God's people were like sheep with no one to take care of them. So God made a promise about who would take care of them now.

Today's Story

A good shepherd loves his sheep. He leads them to green grass. He finds cool water for them to drink. When one little lamb wanders off and gets lost, he goes looking until he finds it.

But God looked at the leaders who were supposed to care for His people, and they weren't doing it. They only thought about themselves. The sheep got hungry. The sheep got lost. And nobody went to look for them.

So God made a big promise. He said, “I will do it myself. I will be the shepherd.”

“I will look for my lost sheep,” God said. “I will search until I find every one. I will bring them home. I will lead them to good grass and let them rest. If a sheep is hurt, I will wrap up its sore leg. If a sheep is weak, I will make it strong. I will hold the little lambs close.”

God doesn't leave even one sheep out in the cold. He goes and gets it. And many, many years later, a Shepherd came who said, “I am the good shepherd.” His name was Jesus, and He came to find us.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. Have you ever lost something you really loved — a toy, a pet, or even gotten lost in a store? How did it feel when it was found?
  2. God said He will search for every single lost sheep until He finds it. How does it feel to know He would come looking for you?
  3. A good shepherd wraps up the hurt sheep and holds the little lambs close. What is one way God has taken care of you this week?
