Ezekiel 4 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

God gave Ezekiel a special way to share His messages — not just with words, but by acting them out so everyone would pay attention.

Today's Story

God's people had wandered far away from Him. They had forgotten to listen to God and forgotten to be kind. God was sad about it — not because He had stopped loving them, but because He loved them so much and wanted them to come back home to Him.

So God gave Ezekiel a special job. Instead of only telling people a message with words, God asked him to ACT IT OUT, like a teacher using a puppet or a picture so the whole class will pay attention.

God said, “Ezekiel, take a clay brick. Draw a little city on it.” So Ezekiel did. He pressed a tiny picture of the city right into the soft clay.

People walked by and stopped. “What is Ezekiel doing? Why is he drawing a city on a brick?” And that was exactly the point. Now they were paying attention. Now they would listen to God's message.

God did all of this for one big reason: He wanted His people to remember Him and turn back to Him. Like a parent who calls a child in from the rain, God was calling His people home.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. When someone really wants you to listen, what do they do? Do they ever act something out or show you a picture?
  2. God acted out His message so people would pay attention. What helps YOU pay attention when something is important?
  3. Even when His people wandered away, God wanted them to come home. How does it feel to know God always wants you close to Him?
