God gave Ezekiel another message to act out — a message about choices, and about a God who never stops reaching for His people.
Today's Story
God gave Ezekiel one more message to act out for the people. This time, God told him to use his own hair! Ezekiel cut his hair and divided it into little piles, and each pile told part of the story God wanted the people to understand.
What was the message? It was about choices. God's people had been making sad choices for a long time — forgetting God, being unkind, doing things they knew were wrong. And choices matter. When we walk away from God, life gets hard and lonely.
But here is the most important part. God was not done with His people. He never is. Even while He warned them, His heart was reaching out, hoping they would turn around and come back to Him.
God is like the very best parent. A good parent tells the truth, even hard truth, because they love you. And no matter what, they keep their arms open wide, ready for you to run back.
That was God's heart for His people. And one day, He promised, He would make everything right again.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- Tell me about a good choice you made today. How did it feel afterward?
- God's people made some sad choices, but God kept His arms open for them. Why do you think God never gives up on the people He loves?
- A good parent tells the truth even when it is hard, because they love you. When has someone told you something hard because they cared about you?
