A long time ago, God's brightness had left His house, and everything felt empty. In this chapter, Ezekiel gets to see it come back.
Today's Story
An angel had been showing Ezekiel a brand-new house for God — walls and gates and a big open courtyard. Now the angel brought him to the gate that faced the sunrise. And Ezekiel waited.
Then he saw it coming. The bright, shining brightness of God! It came from the east like the sun coming up in the morning. The whole sky lit up. The ground seemed to glow. And it made a sound like a giant rushing river — whoosh — so big and so beautiful that Ezekiel fell flat on his face.
The brightness came through the gate and went right inside the house. And the whole house filled up with the shining glory of God, the way a room fills up with light when you open the curtains.
Then a voice spoke to Ezekiel from inside. God said, “This is my home. This is the place where I will live, right in the middle of my people, forever and ever.”
For a long time it had felt like God was far away. But now He was saying, “I'm coming back. I want to be close. I'm here to stay.”
Ezekiel got up off the ground. His heart was full. God had come home.

Talk About It
- When someone you love comes home — a parent, a grandma, a friend — how does your tummy feel right before they walk in the door?
- Ezekiel fell down because God was so bright and beautiful. What is the most amazing, sparkly thing you have ever seen?
- God said, “I will live right in the middle of my people.” Where do you feel closest to God — at church, outside, at bedtime, somewhere else?
