Ezekiel 44 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

The angel kept walking Ezekiel around God's new house. This chapter is all about one special gate, and the helpers who get to work close to God.

Today's Story

The angel brought Ezekiel back to the gate that faced the sunrise — the one where God's shining brightness had come in. But now the gate was shut tight.

“This gate stays closed,” God said. “No one walks through it. Because I came through this gate. It is special.”

It was a little like the way you might keep one drawer just for your most precious treasures. That gate was set apart, all for God.

Then God talked about the helpers who would work in His house. We call them priests. God said, “When they come to serve me, they should get ready with care. They should wear clean, special clothes. They should help my people learn the difference between what is everyday and what is set apart for me. And they should teach my people how to know what is right.”

God even said, “These helpers belong to me. I myself will be their special gift. They get to be close to me — and that is the best treasure of all.”

Ezekiel listened. God cared about every little detail of His house, because being near God is the most special thing there is.

Talk About It

  1. Do you have one toy or one spot that is extra special — one you take really good care of? What makes it special to you?
  2. God said the helpers got to be close to Him, and that was the best gift of all. What do you think it would feel like to be that close to God?
  3. The helpers got ready with care before they served God. What is one way we can get our hearts ready when we want to talk to God?
