Ezekiel 48 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

This is the very last page of Ezekiel's long book. After all the visions and all the waiting, God shows His people the best surprise of all.

Today's Story

Ezekiel had seen so many wonderful things. Now God showed him one last picture — a picture of going home.

God was bringing His people back to their land. And He wanted everyone to have a place. So God drew lines, like sharing a big yummy cake so every single person gets a piece.

This family gets a home over here. That family gets a home over there. No one is left out. No one is forgotten. Every family has a safe place to live.

And right in the very middle, God put His own special place — the holy place where God lives close to His people. Not far away. Not in a corner. Right in the center of everything.

Then God gave the city a brand-new name. Are you ready for it? The city was called “THE LORD IS THERE.”

That was the whole point. After all the hard days, after all the waiting, God was telling His people the happiest news in the world: I am here. I am with you. I am not going anywhere ever again.

And that is how Ezekiel's big book ends — with God moving in to stay.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. Where is your favorite place to be at home — and who do you most like to have there with you?
  2. God made sure every single family got a home and nobody was left out. How does it feel to know God never forgets about you?
  3. The city's name means “The Lord Is There.” What is something you would want to do or say if you knew God was right next to you all day long?
