Get ready — this is one of the most wonderful things Ezekiel ever saw. It starts as a tiny trickle of water, and it turns into something amazing.
Today's Story
The angel brought Ezekiel back to the door of God's house. And there, coming out from underneath it, was water — just a little trickle at first, bubbling out and running toward the sunrise.
The angel walked Ezekiel into the stream. “Come on,” he said. The water came up to Ezekiel's ankles. They walked a little farther. Now it was up to his knees. Farther still — up to his waist! And when they went even farther, the water was so deep Ezekiel could have swum in it. The little trickle had grown into a great, rushing river, and nobody had even turned on a tap!
Then Ezekiel saw the most wonderful part. Everywhere the river went, things came alive. On both banks, tall green trees grew up, heavy with fresh fruit every single month! Their leaves never turned brown, and the leaves could even make sick people well.
The river ran all the way to a sea that had always been too salty for anything to live in. But when the river reached it — splash — the water turned fresh and good. Fish came swimming. Lots and lots of fish! A dead, empty place was suddenly full of life.
Wherever God's river flowed, dead things came alive. Because that is what God is like: life pours out of Him, and it makes everything new.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- The river started tiny and grew HUGE. Have you ever seen something little grow big — a seed, a puppy, even you? What was it like?
- Wherever the river went, dead places came alive. Is there a sad or hard spot in your life you wish God would make better? You can tell Him about it.
- The trees by the river had leaves that helped sick people get well. Who is someone you know who needs God's help today? How could we pray for them?
