Paul keeps writing his loving letter.
In this part he shares the happiest news of all: God doesn't want servants who work for Him. He wants children who belong to Him.
Today's Story
Paul wanted his friends to feel how much God loves them. So he painted a word-picture.
“Imagine a servant,” Paul said. “A servant works hard all day, but the house is not his home. He's always hoping he did enough.”
“But that is not you!” Paul wrote. “God didn't make you a servant. God made you His own child. He brought you right into His family.”
And here is the sweetest part. Paul said God puts His own Spirit in our hearts, and the Spirit helps us cry out, “Abba, Father!” Abba is a warm word, like saying “Daddy.” That is how close God lets us come.
“So you are not a servant anymore,” Paul wrote. “You are God's child. And because you are His child, everything good He has is for you too.”
Paul loved these friends so much. He wanted them to stop feeling like they had to earn God's love — and just enjoy being God's kids.
