Habakkuk 2 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Habakkuk had asked God his big questions. Now he does something brave and quiet — he climbs up high to watch and wait for God to answer.

Today's Story

After Habakkuk asked God his questions, he didn't stomp away. He said, “I will climb up to my watchtower and wait. I will watch to see what God will say to me.”

So he waited. And God answered.

God said, “Write My answer down big and clear, so anyone running past can read it. The answer is coming. Even if it feels slow, wait for it — it will surely come.”

Then God told Habakkuk something important. People who puff themselves up and only think about themselves will not last. But the person who trusts Me — that person will truly live.

God said the people who were being mean would not get away with it forever. The ones who grabbed and grabbed and hurt others — that would not last. God sees it all, and one day He makes wrong things right.

Then God gave Habakkuk the most wonderful promise of all. “One day,” God said, “the whole earth will be filled with knowing how wonderful I am — as full as the ocean is full of water.”

Imagine the whole sea, every drop, all the way down. That is how full of God's goodness the world will be one day. Habakkuk could hold onto that while he waited.

  1. What is something YOU have to wait for that feels really long — a birthday, a trip, your turn for something?
  2. Habakkuk climbed up to watch and wait instead of giving up. What helps you when you have to wait for something good?
  3. God promised the whole earth will be full of His goodness one day, like water fills the sea. What do you think that wonderful day will be like?
