Hebrews is a letter written to help God's family keep going and not give up.
In this part, the letter shares a big picture: living for God is like running a race.
Today's Story
The letter just finished telling about all the people who trusted God — Noah, Abraham, Moses, and so many more. Now it says something exciting. Imagine all those faith heroes are like a huge crowd cheering you on!
The letter says, “We are surrounded by such a large crowd of witnesses. Let us run with strength the race marked out for us.” Living for God is like a race. Sometimes it is long. Sometimes you get tired. But you keep going.
When you run a race, you do not carry heavy bags. So the letter says to drop the things that slow you down, and the wrong choices that trip you up. Run light and free!
And here is the most important part: while you run, “keep your eyes on Jesus.” A runner looks straight ahead at the finish line. We look at Jesus. He ran His race all the way, even when it was hard, and now He helps us run ours.
So when you feel like quitting, look up at Jesus and keep going. You are not running alone.

Talk About It
- When is a time today you felt like giving up on something? What happened?
- A runner drops heavy bags so they can run free. What is something that slows you down from following Jesus?
- What does it mean to keep your eyes on Jesus when something is hard?
