Hebrews is a letter to God's family to help them love God and keep going when life is hard.
In this part, the letter shows us something wonderful: Jesus became one of us so He could help us.
Today's Story
The letter wants God's family to remember something important, so it says: “Pay careful attention to what we have heard. We must not drift away.”
Have you ever floated on a raft and slowly drifted from the shore without even noticing? The letter says don't drift away from Jesus. Hold on tight.
Then it tells us the most amazing thing. Jesus is the King of everything — but He did not stay far away up in heaven. Jesus came down and became a real person, with skin and bones and a beating heart, just like you.
Why would the King do that? Because He loves us. Jesus became one of us so He could help us. The letter calls us His brothers and sisters. That means Jesus is part of our family!
And because Jesus became a person, He knows what it feels like to be tired, to be sad, and to be tempted to do wrong. So when things are hard for you, Jesus understands. He is the perfect helper.
“He is able to help,” the letter says. Jesus came to rescue us and bring us safely home to God.

- Jesus knows what it feels like to be tired and sad because He became a person too. How does that help you when you feel that way?
- What is something hard you could ask Jesus to help you with this week?
