Hosea 13 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

God's people had forgotten Him — the One who kept them safe their whole lives. But even here, God makes an amazing promise about rescue.

Today's Story

God remembered taking care of His people through the hot, dry desert long ago. He fed them. He gave them water. He kept them safe when they had nothing.

But once they were full and comfortable, a sad thing happened: they forgot Him. They acted like they had done it all by themselves. They forgot the God who had been holding them the whole time.

God told them gently that forgetting Him was a dangerous thing. He was the only One who could truly keep them safe. Without Him, they were like a little lamb wandering away from the only Shepherd who loved it.

And then, right in the middle of this hard chapter, God said something wonderful. He made a huge promise: “I will rescue My people. I will save them even from the grave. I am stronger than death itself.”

What a promise! Even when things look their darkest, God is the great Rescuer. There is no place so deep and no trouble so big that God cannot reach in and bring His people safely home.

Long after Hosea, Jesus would beat death and come back alive — making this very promise come true.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. Has someone ever rescued you when you were stuck or scared — maybe caught you when you slipped, or found you when you were lost?
  2. God's people forgot Him when they got comfortable. What helps you remember God on happy days when everything is going great?
  3. God promised He is stronger than anything, even death. How does it feel to know nothing is too big or too scary for God?
