Isaiah was a man God chose to carry His messages to the people. The book of Isaiah is full of warnings to turn back to God - and big, beautiful promises about a Rescuer who is coming.
Today's Story
God gave Isaiah a message for His people, and it started like a parent who misses their child.
“I raised these children,” God said. “I helped them grow. But they have wandered far away from Me. Even a little donkey knows where its home is - but My people have forgotten the way back.”
The people still went to church. They brought gifts. They said long prayers. But on the inside, they were not being kind. They were not helping the poor or caring for children who had no family. So God said, “Your gifts don't mean much if your hearts are far from Me.”
But here is the most amazing part. God did not stop there. He said, “Come on. Let's talk this over. Come back to Me.”
Then He made a promise so wonderful it is hard to believe: “Even if your sins are bright red like a stain, I can make you white and clean, like fresh snow.”
God was not pushing His people away. He was opening His arms and asking them to come home.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Have you ever gotten something really dirty - your hands, your shoes, your favorite shirt? How did it feel to get it clean again?
- God said His people had wandered far away. What helps you remember the way back to God when you feel far from Him?
- God did not yell “Go away!” - He said “Come back.” How does it feel to know God always wants you to come close to Him?
