Isaiah brought God a message for the leaders of the city. God had been watching how they treated people - especially the ones who could not help themselves.
Today's Story
The leaders of the big city were supposed to take care of everyone, like good shepherds taking care of the sheep. But Isaiah had a message: they had not been doing their job.
Instead of helping people, the leaders had been helping only themselves. They wore fancy clothes and walked around with their noses in the air, showing off. They took good things away from poor families who had very little to start with.
God said, “I see all of this. I see how you treat the people who cannot stand up for themselves.” And God told them gently but clearly: showing off and being unfair would not last. Those things never do.
But here is the part that should make us glad. God was not ignoring the poor people. He was not too busy to notice. God was paying close attention - because He cares about every single person, especially the ones nobody else is watching out for.
God is fair. He sees what is really happening, even when no one else does.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Has something ever felt really unfair to you? What happened, and how did it make you feel?
- The leaders showed off and forgot about the poor. Who is someone around you that might need a little extra kindness or help?
- God always sees what is really going on, even when grown-ups do not. How does it feel to know God notices you and cares about you?
