God's people had been sad for a long time. So God sent a message to wake them up: good news is coming! Get ready to be happy!
Today's Story
God's people had been feeling tired and low for a long, long time. Their heads hung down. They had almost forgotten how to smile.
So God sent them a message, and it started like a wake-up song: “Wake up! Wake up! Get up and put on your best clothes! Something wonderful is about to happen!”
Imagine a city with high walls. Way up on top stand the watchmen - the people whose job is to look far down the road and see who is coming. Suddenly one of them spots something. A messenger! Running! Running with good news!
Isaiah said, “How beautiful are the feet of the one who brings good news - who says, Your God is King!”
The watchmen could hardly hold it in. They shouted. They sang. They cheered together at the top of their voices, because God was bringing His people home and making everything right again.
“Burst into songs of joy!” Isaiah said to the whole city. “The Lord is taking care of His people!”
The best news in the whole world was on its way - and you could already hear the happy feet running to bring it.
